Mental Health Clinician, Juvenile Court Clinic

Job Type: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
Location: Framingham, MA
Salary: $75,000-$85,000

Adolescent Consultation Services (ACS), a nonprofit mental health agency serving the Middlesex County Juvenile Courts of Massachusetts, is seeking diverse qualified applicants for a per diem mental health clinician position. ACS provides evaluation, consultation, and treatment services to the juvenile courts in Cambridge, Framingham, Lowell, and Waltham. This position is based at our Framingham site, with the possibility of occasional coverage at our other sites.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations of youth who are before the Juvenile Court on a variety of matters: child requiring assistance applications, delinquency cases, care and protection matters, and emergency mental health and substance use evaluations.
  • Communicate with juvenile court personnel, attorneys, schools, community providers, the district attorney’s office, the Department of Children and Families, and other stakeholders, to gather pertinent information and to provide consultation and coordination of care.
  • Complete comprehensive written reports to be submitted to the court on behalf of the child and family.
  • Provide oral testimony to the court regarding the findings of certain evaluations.
  • Assist families with referrals to behavioral health providers and/or other services as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or similar field, from an accredited graduate school program.
  • Independently licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Excellent writing skills and experience writing thorough diagnostic evaluations.
  • At least two years of experience working with at-risk youth and families.
  • Strong diagnostic skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual candidates, especially English/Spanish and English/Portuguese.
  • An interest in forensic psychology and prior forensic experience.
  • Knowledge of services available for children and families.
  • Strong preference will be given to candidates who are presently enrolled in the statewide CJCC I and II certification program, or are already CJCC I and II certified juvenile court clinicians.

Salary and Benefits:

Mental Health Clinician

Location: Lowell, MA
Salary: $45,000-$50,000

ACS provides evaluation, consultation, and treatment services to the juvenile courts in Cambridge, Framingham, Lowell, and Waltham. This position is within our treatment program and is based at our Lowell site, with the possibility of occasional coverage at our other sites.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct intake screenings and assessments for adolescents who are court-involved or at risk for court involvement. Referral sources include schools, court personnel, the District Attorney’s office, attorneys, forensic evaluators, and other providers.
  • Provide individual mental health treatment to adolescents, both in-person and via telehealth.
  • Facilitate school-based and clinic-based psychoeducational groups using existing curriculum, with opportunities to pilot new initiatives.
  • Provide consultation and coordination of care to juvenile court staff, attorneys, schools, the District Attorney’s Office, state agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist families with referrals to behavioral health providers and other community supports and resources.
  • Maintain timely documentation, including, but not limited to, assessments, treatment plans, clinical progress notes, case management notes, and memorandums to the Juvenile Court.
  • Possible supervision of student trainees, as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field.
  • Independently licensed to provide mental health services in Massachusetts (LICSW or LMHC).
  • A minimum of five years of experience working in the field of mental health.
  • Essential knowledge and experience include a background in child development, trauma informed interventions, strong diagnostic skills, knowledge of services available for children and families, and experience working with at-risk youth and families.
  • Knowledge of treatment modalities appropriate for children, adolescents, and families.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Collaborative and proactive communicator.

Preferred Qualifications:

An interest in or previous experience serving individuals who are court-involved.
Bilingual candidates strongly preferred.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Starting salary range for 24 hours/week: $45,000 – 50,000 (Compensation is based on education, related work experience, licensure, and other qualifications.)
